I recently purchased Bioshock, the new PC/X360 FPS game, for my PC instead of the 360, for whatever reason. Guess what? It doesn't work. At first I thought it was just a bug. Or maybe it was Windows Vista. I have an almost fully upgraded PC, with 200 GB RAM and an LCD monitor. As previously stated, I have Vista Home Premium. The only thing that I am missing is a Direct X 9.0c or better video and sound cards.
Sigh... computers these days. Once upon a time, you could activate anything on your PC. There were no patches, or video card upgrades, or all this nonsense. All you had to do was pop in the disc, install, and you're good to go! Nowadays, it's a complex installation process that never seems to get finished fast enough to not try your patience.
So now I gotta choose between a few options. I can go ahead and upgrade my video card for a few hundred bucks, or I can purchase the 360 version. I can't exchange my PC version of Bioshock, so I gotta buy a whole new version if I choose the X360 option. Yet, I would like to get into PC games, and as such, I would like to upgrade my video/sound cards. So now I'm stuck between a roc and a hard place.
Still, the disappointment of not being able to play Bioshock is bigger than a lot of other recent disappointments in my life as of late.
